Our Story

Welcome to the party! We’re Braden and Emily, a.k.a Big Kid Pizza—a Neapolitan pizza pop-up in sunny Calgary, Alberta.

Established in 2023, Big Kid Pizza was the product of a deep love and obsession for Neapolitan pizza. After sampling some of the best pies in Naples back in 2018, Braden set out to replicate the authentic flavours of this southern Italian staple.

He began making pizza for friends and family in 2020, meticulously dialling his dough and sauce recipes using the best ingredients available to him in his hometown of Chatham, Ontario. Amidst the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020, Braden could often be found on his friends’ driveways, oven and peel at the ready, cooking pies for his pals from a distance.

It wasn’t until Braden moved to Canmore, Alberta in the Spring of 2020 that he met Emily— his future partner in business and in life—the second (better) half of Big Kid Pizza.

Backyard cooking for friends in the city turned into the first BKP test-run, and before we knew it, we were gearing up for our first official pop-up at Socality House.

Hundreds of pies later, we are still just as excited as day one to bring our pizza to the local Calgary community.
